Mount Up for Some Cowboy Action!

The Boonville Regulators is a cowboy action shooting club. We are affiliated with the Single Action Shooting Society (SASS). We encourage everyone to join SASS or our club, but it is not mandatory. Our shooting is all done with firearms or copies of firearms made before 1898. Single action center fired pistols, lever or pump action rifles in pistol calibers and double barreled or Winchester model 1897 shotguns are used by all shooters. Only SASS approved guns and ammunition is allowed. Only shotgun ammunition approved by SASS is allowed. Target load only with a shot size of 7 ½, 8, 8 ½, or 9 shot. Larger than 7 ½ is not permitted. No jacketed ammunition is allowed. Shooters are limited to low power ammunition to protect the targets and safety.

Period type attire is a requirement. No ball caps, athletic shoes, or short sleeve shirts are allowed. Cowboy hat and boots are required. A large part of the fun of cowboy action shooting is period costuming.

Cowboy action shooting is governed by rules set forward by SASS. Safety is of the utmost importance. Unsafe or improper gun handling is not tolerated. No fast draw type shooting. For more information please visit the SASS website and download the most up-to-date “Shooter’s Handbook”
